Improve the onboarding process for inbound service design graduate students to enhance their experience, effectiveness and engagement.
Overview
SCAD has a major inflow of graduate students each quarter, onboarding them effectively is a difficult task. Effective information transfer is between students and SCAD admission is key.

Outcome
A pre- arrival orientation and community building tool in the form of an extension to the My SCAD, which is a all in one portal of SCAD accepted/ inbound students.
A post-arrival on ground informal orientation initiated by senior graduate students as a two day event.

Root Cause Analysis
This root cause analysis using the fishbone model identifies the lack of effective service design program onboarding as the core issue, stemming from communication gaps, information flow problems, and insufficient student preparation.

Design Interventions
INTERVENTION #1 - BEE CONNECT
BEE Connect is a pre-arrival orientation and community building tool. It helps SCAD inbound student to kickstart their getting to know process by having a brief overview of their peers in the their respective programs.

INTERVENTION #2 - INSIDE THE HIVE
This is a two day informal session initiated by the SD senior graduate students which will be a part of the orientation week.
